You want to build a web site:

  1. The domain name: you can buy a new domain if you want to, but I suggest that you first look at expired domains. You might find a name that fits perfectly your niche. The advantage is that the domain might already have traffic. If you find nothing interesting, then go buy a new one.
  2. The host: I will personally recommend Just host. They offer unlimited hosting and unlimited bandwidth (very important for your site to be online all the time). Plus, they have good prices and offer a free domain name on certain conditions.
  3. You are now ready to build your site. You can you use Just host wizard or use a free site builder like Kompozer.
  4. You will need a FTP, download FileZilla, it is also free.

A few things to remember:

  1. Do not forget keywords or key phrases, they are very important if you want people to find you.
  2. Description: put in the <head></head> a description of your site and manage to have a similar description on your site.
  3. Also manage to have the keywords written 3 to 5 times on the page.
  4. Make your site simple to navigate
  5. Choose carefully the colors. Select the ones that fit your site AND your customers
  6. Do not build the site for you, do it for your visitors.
  7. Try to avoid mistakes, ask others to check spelling, orthography etc.
  8. Make your links open in a new window (_blank). This way your visitors still have your site in front of them.
  9. If you want to reach general public all over the world, do not make your pages too heavy with videos or images or sounds. There are more surfers than you think that still use 56K modem. High speed not available.
  10. Up load.

This is very basic, but on line you can find tutorials to build your site with all info on how to use SEO (Search Engines Optimization), how to choose keywords and description etc.

Type ”site building+tutorial” in your favorite search engine. In Google I had nearly 3,000,000 results. You have tutorials for beginners or more advance creators.
